Azle’s Annual National Day of Prayer Luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at 404 West Main Street in Azle. It’s free to attend, but please RSVP to the Event Page on the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance Facebook page if possible, so we know how many meals to provide. You may also RSVP by sending an email to director@azlema.com.
Dr. David L Allen, Distinguished Professor of Preaching, George W. Truett Chair of Ministry, Director of the Southwestern Center for Text-Driven Preaching at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and author, will bring the keynote address.
This year marks 70 years since Reverend Billy Graham stood on the capitol steps in February 1952 and called for congress and the president to establish a day of prayer. By April of that year, President Truman signed the legislation into public law.
As we believe and pray in 2021, this theme echoes our prayers: “LORD pour out Your LOVE, LIFE, and LIBERTY.” This proclaims a promise of God in our theme verse, 2 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
As she has since 2014, Kim Ware, Publisher of The Azle News, is leading a committee of volunteers to organize Azle’s National Day of Prayer Luncheon on behalf of the AAMA. Our gratitude for Mrs. Ware's dedication to this event, and to the businesses and individuals whose donations make it possible, is immeasurable.
